This is WHY

Every day, the Y is focused on strengthening communities for kids, adults, seniors and families with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal, nourish and encourage. But we can’t do it alone. The Annual Campaign goal for 2020 is $185,000. These dollars will provide scholarships to over 860 neighbors who rely on the programs and services the Y offers.

Important Message to Our YMCA Community

Dear Y Community and Members,

We deeply appreciate your understanding as we navigate the challenging circumstances related to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for our community and for our Y. Please know we are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control. At the Y, everything we do is guided by our mission of strengthening communities, and we have an obligation to do all that we can to limit the spread of Coronavirus. The well-being of our members, families, staff, and participants remains our top priority.

The CDC has recommended social distancing and avoiding large groups as an important line of defense in slowing the spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to carefully consider your social interaction, which includes participation in large group activities. We know the YMCA is a daily part of many of your lives, and with the necessary precautions and collective vigilance, our intent is to continue to provide important services. We also know you will act to protect yourself and our communities, and we trust you to use your best judgment.

We are implementing proactive measures at all Y facilities to limit exposure and maintain a safe environment. At this time, both Y membership facilities remain open, though some programs and services have already been suspended. Visits from out-of-state Y members is currently suspended and the following programs have been altered.

Day Camp Program and Child Care

UPDATE: Due to new CDC recommendations, we will only be serving children of first responders and critical need employees in Child Care and Schools Out Camp starting Wednesday, March 18th. Staff will be checking the temperatures of each child prior to admittance. If a child’s temperature reads 100 or higher the child will not be permitted to stay. Anyone sent home with a fever will not be able to return until 48 hours fever free. In addition, staff members will also be checked for fever prior to their shift and will be sent home if any is present.

In adherence with the closings of local school districts, the afterschool programs and elementary sports programs will be closed until further notice.

Child Watch

UPDATE: Due to new CDC recommendations, we will only be serving 8 children at one time in Child Watch

Youth Programs

If in the coming weeks it is determined the remainder of the program session or sports season needs to be canceled, we assure you we will work with families to provide credits for paid programs. UPDATE: Youth Soccer practices and games as well as Swim Lessons will be postponed through Friday, March 27th. Gymnastics is set to resume April 1st. We will continue to update our programs and services as necessary.

Group Exercise Classes

Group Ex Classes are temporarily suspended and will resume Friday, March 27th unless otherwise noted.

UPDATE: Each staff member, Y member and child will be checked for fever prior to admittance. If a temp of 100 or more is detected that individual will be asked to leave and not return until 48 hours fever free.

We ask that all members and staff continue to follow the guidelines set forth by federal, state and local agencies related to this virus. If you are at a higher risk (age, compromised health, etc.) for serious illness from COVID-19, it is important for you to take action to reduce your risk of exposure. For information related to appropriate precautions, please visit the CDC website.

As the environment continues to evolve, Y hours of service and programs may be adjusted. For additional information please visit our website.

In the coming days, we will be working hard to provide you with additional resources to support your opportunity to remain active.

Thank you for helping our communities stay safe and healthy. Together we will get through this crisis.
